This course is designed as a practical approach to the teaching of STEAM in an international context. The goal of the course is to introduce students to the medieval Spanish art and culture while learning about the modern architecture and design in the Spanish wine industry. A challenging combination of the old and the new, tradition and innovation that will explore the rich cultural heritage of the Monasterio de San Millán de la Cogolla, cradle of the Spanish Language, while introducing the students to the forefront architecture of the wineries in the region. The course includes a trip to the different historical sites, and to El Ciego and its surroundings where students will visit the “cathedrals of wine” designed by some of the world's most prestigious architects including Frank Gehry and Santiago Calatrava.
