This course explores the seven centuries that the Iberian Peninsula was under the Muslim influence. The territory known as Al-Andalus was home to a sophisticated and opulent civilization, splendid architecture and unique design. The goal of this course is to introduce students to the history, art and architecture of the time. The course will explore the refinement of Moorish palaces, the magnificent decorations, sustainable engineering technologies and colorful gardening designs while at the same time learn about the sophisticated live style, music and culture. The course will take students to some of the most emblematic sites including Malaga, Cordoba, Granada and Seville led by a team of experts including architects, historians, musicians, artisans and designers.
